Remembering Eve, before our ability to birth normally is gone.

It used to be called “natural birth”, then that came to mean any birth involving a vagina. Then it was “unmedicated birth”, but that really only meant the absence of an epidural. Now it’s called “physiological birth” and there’s quite a bit of push back from the medical industry that says all births are physiological in that the physiology of female anatomy is involved. Sometimes they call it “spontaneous birth” meaning the baby came out the vagina without forceps or vacuum but could include all manner of inductions such as stretch-and-sweeps, acupuncture, herbs, homeopathy, castor oil, AROM, or a foley bulb.

We’re running out of words to describe ordinary, biological birth.

Let’s just call this “Eve’s birth”, something that follows God’s original design for childbirth.

And the medical cartel seems to be set on eliminating it.

Each year, fewer women actually give birth according to their innate biology. More babies are forcefully ejected early, arrive surgically, more women are traumatised, fewer babies receive their mother’s milk, and humanity continues its slide into relationship disconnect and chronic illness. One wonders if this is intentional.

BORN Ontario published “A Decade and Beyond” describing perinatal health outcomes between 2012 and 2024. It represents a global picture of declining normal birth and increasing interventions without any commensurate improvement in outcomes. Just more iatrogenic harm.

The shocking and absolutely unsupportable truth is that just half of babies are allowed to complete their full gestation and barely half of women actually give birth without medical assistance.

When did women’s bodies become so inept at giving birth?

Hint: they didn’t.

While maternal health has also declined with more women presenting with pre-existing conditions such as, diabetes or hypertensive disorders, rising from 15.2% to 21.6% and pregnancy complications rising from 15.2% to 21.6%, we have an industry whose answer is induction and surgery with no commensurate improvement in maternal or neonatal outcomes. No more babies are being saved despite caesarean surgery increasing across all categories.

Further to this abysmal decline in care for women with or without health conditions is the dramatic decline in successful breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding initiation rose from 87.7% to 91.8%. However, exclusive breastfeeding at discharge, an average of just 28 hours later, fell from 58.5 to 43.3%. What they call “medical supplementation” more than tripled from 4.2% to 15.5%. Less than half of babies born in a hospital go home exclusively breastfeeding!

How is it more that 3x more babies need supplementation compared to 10 years ago? More likely, how is it that breastfeeding education on the postpartum ward has declined so drastically in that time?

This medical mismanagement of pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding is leaving an indelible stain on humanity.

While midwives are doing somewhat better with 66.7% of their clients still exclusively breastfeeding at day 3, very few women actually end up birthing with a midwife. Despite 19.7% of women choosing midwifery care only 11% are delivered with midwives, meaning they, too, don’t have the skills to holistically care for 44% of their clients and instead refer out to obstetrical services and hospital birth.

This is not isolated to our tiny corner of the world.

In England, when targets to reduce caesarean surgery were dropped in 2022, the c-section rate rose within four years to a whopping 46% of all births and giving birth vaginally without instruments has decreased from a measly 53% to an abysmal 43%.

Australian women are also losing their access to normal birth. Non-instrumental vaginal birth declined from 56% in 2010 to 48% today while caesarean surgery rose from 32% in 2010 to today’s 41%.

Turkey leads the pack with a 61.5% c-section rate followed by South Korea at 61%. Clearly the industry is out of control with no checks and balances and no meaningful competition.

We are not only losing the ability to birth normally, we’re losing the ability to keep ourselves well. The industry is not invested in healing us, it is rigged to ensure we are customers for life – beginning at birth.

Ensuring women re-learn how to care for their own wellbeing and have access to Eve’s birth rests with us. We must become more useful humans.

No one is coming to save us. It’s up to us. We can do better.

Call the neighbour.
